About

Shotcut is a free, open-source, cross-platform video editor available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is designed to provide a robust video editing experience with a wide range of features catering to both beginners and professionals alike. Shotcut was originally conceived in November 2004 by Charlie Yates, an MLT co-founder and the original lead developer. The current version is a complete rewrite by Dan Dennedy, another MLT co-founder and its current lead. The project aims to leverage the cross-platform capabilities of MLT, particularly with WebVfx and Movit plugins. Shotcut continues to evolve, offering new features and improvements with each release.
